If you're building a technology startup in Qatar, Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) is almost certainly on your radar — and for good reason. Part of Qatar Foundation and based in Education City, it's the country's central innovation hub: over 300 companies, a startup-friendly free zone, and funding programs that have backed founders from first pitch to global scale. Why QSTP, in numbers.
QSTP isn't a co-working space with a logo — it's a research and innovation park with serious weight behind it. International companies registered there have invested around $3 billion in R&D over the past 14 years; the park spans roughly 91 hectares at about 90% occupancy; and it has put tens of millions into fostering the entrepreneurial ecosystem directly. More than 300 companies are based there today, including 20 multinationals — Microsoft, Cisco, Siemens, Baker Hughes and others sit alongside homegrown startups. For a founder, that mix is the point: you're building next to both global R&D teams and the startups one stage ahead of you.
The programs, by stage.
QSTP organizes its support around where you are in the journey. The four main tracks:
- Explore — for the earliest stage: Internships, Hackathons, Ride and Pitch, and Creative Labs. This is where ideas get tested and talent gets discovered, before you've committed to a company.
- Incubate — for turning an idea into a company: the Incubate program and the Impact Engine Series help founders build the foundations, with mentorship and structure around the messy early phase.
- Accelerate — sector-focused acceleration in areas Qatar is investing in heavily: FemTech, WaterTech and AgriTech. These are for startups with a product, ready to grow fast in a defined domain.
- Expand — for companies with traction: Scale Ups and Enterprise programs help established startups grow and help larger organizations plug into the innovation ecosystem.
Beyond the core tracks: community and funding.
Around the main programs sits a wider community layer worth knowing about: The 300, Fellowship and Ambassadorship community programs; a Summer Bootcamp for young innovators; Stars of Science, the long-running televised innovation competition; and — the one founders ask about most — the Tech Venture Fund, QSTP's investment vehicle. Multiple founders credit that fund with letting them double down on sales and marketing at the moment it mattered. The recurring theme in how alumni describe QSTP is partnership rather than transaction: as one CEO put it, the team asked "how are WE doing," not "how are you doing."

Start at the source: qstp.qa lists every program with its own application route, and the Join Us page is the front door. Match your honest stage to the right track — applying to an acceleration program before you have a product, or an incubation program when you're really still exploring, wastes everyone's time. If you're early, the Explore programs and community events (hackathons, bootcamps, AI meetups) are a low-commitment way to get inside the ecosystem before you formally apply.
